Mayokun Akintunde
Computer Engineer
Passionate about technology, innovation, and solving complex business challenges. Proficient in cloud computing, embedded systems, computer vision, and full-stack development.
My Journey
I'm a recent Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Manitoba with a strong foundation in both hardware and software development. My passion lies in bridging the gap between complex systems and user-friendly solutions.
With experience in cloud computing, embedded systems, computer vision, and full-stack development, I bring a unique perspective to every project. I've worked with technologies ranging from low-level C/C++ programming to modern web frameworks.
Currently working as a Web Developer at Technosylva, where I'm developing robust interfaces for wildfire management systems using .NET and VueJS, making critical tools more accessible for firefighters and emergency personnel.

Project Experience
A showcase of diverse projects spanning full-stack development, computer vision, embedded systems, and award-winning engineering solutions
Collaborated with industry partner Antec Controls on a capstone project integrating ultrasonic, RGB and IR sensors with Raspberry Pi. Designed a door monitoring algorithm using YOLOv8 tracking to detect people entering and exiting via 2D image sequences for real-time HVAC optimization.
Led a team as Scrum Master while developing a comprehensive Android airline reservations app with booking, authentication, payment, and check-in features. Wrote unit and integration tests (Espresso).
Collaborated in a team to develop Skip and Sweeper devices to aid communication for deaf curlers. Led software development on ESP32 microcontrollers with ESP-NOW one-way Wi-Fi to transmit instructions from the Skip to Sweepers and display via LEDs on the broom.
Experience & Education
Professional journey spanning database engineering, web development, and embedded systems, backed by award-winning academic excellence
Work Experience
Building geospatial web applications for wildfire simulation and forecasting used by multiple provincial governments and agencies.
Key Achievements:
- •Rebuilt a wildfire simulation platform (www.firecast.ca), migrating from Leaflet to Mapbox and improving map rendering metrics by ~30%
- •Designed and built the frontend interface for a Wildfire Calculator for the Great Lakes Forest Fire Compact (GLFFC) to compute key fire spread metrics
- •Contributed to GitLab CI/CD by updating .gitlab-ci.yml workflows for smoother deployments and improved reliability
- •Building a full-stack geospatial application with Java Play Framework (backend) and Vue.js (frontend)
- •Contributing to 4Casts, a public wildfire forecasting platform to enhance data accuracy and transparency
Designed a specialized Microsoft SQL Server database to manage power generation study data from PSS\E for the Grid Infrastructure Planning Dept., and built a secure web interface for engineers.
Key Achievements:
- •Designed and developed a specialized database with Microsoft SQL Server for PSS\E power study data
- •Built a Flask web server with an HTML/CSS UI to store, access, and download automated reports and files (PSS\E-compatible)
- •Implemented authentication and session-based authorization to strengthen access control
